(Please do not book a free sesh if you’re selling something or are looking for employment. Use the contact form for that stuff.)
more than
just a colorist
The biggest question I get is, “How can you pick paint without being in the space?” I’ve been a designer for over 20 years, and I’ve been working virtually for more than eight of those years (yep, pre-pandemic). I work fast and with high‑profile clients, so my process is tight and methodical. The first thing I do is analyze the space carefully: I study photos, request additional images when necessary, and often ask for a walkthrough video. That helps me understand the room’s orientation and lighting, but also the structural “bones” -ceiling height, trim, architectural details and sightlines. I don’t start specifying colors until I have the facts I need.
Those color analysis videos flooding socials -where you discover you’re actually a Sunlit Summer and not a Deep Winter ring true because your space has a natural color disposition too. Every home, building and room has its own seasonal character, which is why your best friend’s stunning dining room paint might look terrible in your bedroom. I also consider your personal color analysis, including skin tone and wardrobe palette. Why does that matter? Because I want you to always look and feel amazing in your own home.
Geography plays an undeniable role in color selection, and it’s my job to ensure colors hold up across seasons. Natural light and artificial sources can bend a paint’s tone quickly, so I evaluate how sunlight moves through your rooms at different times of day and how lamps, overhead fixtures and neighboring rooms affect perception. I’ve specified colors for homes from temperate cities to remote Alaska — trust me, a hue that sings in September can read very differently in February.
